The American Communist Party would like to express its deepest fraternal solidarity with all Communist, socialist and progressive forces within Turkey struggling amidst tumultuous political and social developments.

While in principle, the Party rejects meddling in the internal affairs of other countries, we stand in full solidarity with our principled anti-NATO and anti-EU Turkish Communist comrades currently facing persecution and arrest by Turkish authorities.

It is necessary to remember the deep legacy of NATO’s fascist Operation Gladio in Turkey, and the long, righteous, and honorable struggle of Left-Wing forces within Turkey against the forces of US-NATO imperialism. We stand in full solidarity with the Turkish people in their struggle for true sovereignty and independence.

We are moved by the bravery and steadfastness of our Communist comrades in raising high the red banner amidst such troubling times. We wish sincerely for all Left-Wing and Communist forces within Turkey to unify and rally around opposition to all NATO, EU forces, and to have the confidence to recognize that they need not follow behind the forces of liberalism — that circumstances are ripe for genuine Communist leadership not only in Turkey but around the entire world.

In America, in Turkey, and in all lands, the future belongs to the working class.
